Primary Practice Areas:

Kirstyn Watson is an associate attorney at Copps DiPaola Silverman, PLLC. Her practice focuses on matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, and family offense and domestic violence cases.

Before joining the firm, Kirstyn served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. In that role, she prosecuted a wide range of felony and misdemeanor cases from investigation through trial. She worked closely with victims of domestic violence and children affected by crime, including matters involving Manhattan’s Integrated Domestic Violence (IDV) Court, where related criminal, family, and matrimonial cases involving the same family are heard before a single judge. Kirstyn also worked on cases involving forensic interviews of child victims and videotaped testimony by children for use in grand jury proceedings.

Through this experience, Kirstyn developed strong courtroom and litigation skills, as well as a deep understanding of the emotional challenges families face during periods of conflict and uncertainty. Her background in high-pressure courtroom settings enables her to be both an effective negotiator and a strong courtroom advocate for her clients.

Kirstyn earned her J.D. from Penn State Law, where she graduated magna cum laude and in the top ten of her class. During law school, she served as an Articles Editor for the Penn State Law Review, competed in national mock trial competitions, and published scholarly work on constitutional and digital privacy issues.

Prior to law school, Kirstyn graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian from Marist College with a degree in Criminal Justice, a minor in Accounting, and a Paralegal Certificate.

Kirstyn understands that family law matters can be deeply personal and emotionally challenging, and she is committed to helping clients feel supported, informed, and confident as they navigate each stage of the legal process.
