Rebecca Wager, The CDS Law FirmRebecca Dunning, Associate Attorney, practices exclusively in the areas of matrimonial and family law. Prior to law school, Ms. Dunning worked at St. Bonaventure University as an Assistant Director of Residential Living, where she oversaw a campus community of 1,500 undergraduates and counseled students in academic, emotional, and social crises. Her work in the area of campus sexual assault led her to pursue a career in law. Ms. Dunning interned at Copps DiPaola Silverman, PLLC throughout law school, and attributes her growing knowledge of complex matrimonial and family law issues to her mentor, Partner Lorraine R. Silverman.

Ms. Dunning is a board member of Strong Through Every Mile (STEM), a local non-profit that empowers survivors of domestic violence and women recovering from substance abuse disorders through the sport of running, where she continues to volunteer as a running coach.

Ms. Dunning also devotes her free time to The Legal Project’s Uncontested Divorce Clinic, where she currently assists in training new law student volunteers to serve the community by providing pro bono uncontested divorces.

Ms. Dunning attended and completed Basic Mediation Training at the New York Peace Institute in September 2019, which is approved under Part 146 of the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution Programs, and is working toward completing her Mediation Apprenticeship.

Ms. Dunning resides in Menands, New York with her husband, Lance, and their two dogs.

Ms. Dunning received her J.D. from Albany Law School, where she received a Kate Stoneman Student Award upon graduation for exemplifying the spirit of Kate Stoneman, the first female graduate of Albany Law School and the first female member of the New York State Bar. Ms. Dunning also received the Pro Bono Program’s Platinum Public Service Award for completing over 750 hours of pro bono work throughout law school. During law school, Ms. Dunning served as Co-Chair of the Women’s Law Caucus, and helped to organize Albany Law School’s annual Senior Citizen’s Law Day. Ms. Dunning also participated in the Family Violence Litigation Clinic and the Domestic Violence Prosecution Hybrid Clinic through The Justice Center at Albany Law School.

Ms. Dunning has a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from St. Bonaventure University. While completing her Master’s degree, Ms. Dunning had the opportunity to complete the Francis E. Kelley Oxford Programme at Trinity College of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England where she created a multi-faceted marketing plan for an international business client. Ms. Dunning has also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Art from Siena College, where she received the Board of Trustees Creative Arts Award for her work in her capstone gallery show, Closely Kept.
